Sansevieria masoniana, also known as Whalefin Snake Plant, is a popular species of the Sansevieria plant family, which is native to tropical regions of West Africa. It is named for its distinctive, large leaves, which resemble the shape of a whale's tail or fin. Whalefin Snake Plant is a hardy and low-maintenance houseplant that is popular for its attractive foliage and air-purifying properties.
The leaves of the Whalefin Snake Plant can grow up to 3 feet in length and are thick, fleshy, and dark green in color. They have a rough, textured surface and a unique, undulating shape that gives them a sculptural quality. This plant is also known for its fragrant, white or greenish-white flowers, which bloom on a long stalk in the summer months.
Like other species of Sansevieria, the Whalefin Snake Plant is very easy to care for and can tolerate a range of light conditions, from low to bright indirect light. It prefers well-draining soil and does not require frequent watering.
